From Principal's Desk
It is indeed a great privilege on my part to offer a warm welcome to all who desire to pursue their studies in this premier institution of higher education. The college, now at the threshold of its golden jubilee, came into being in 1966 as the cumulative consequence of the noble initiative and painstaking efforts collectively undertaken by a host of leading citizens and the general public of greater Howly and Barpeta Road area under the leadership of Sjt. S. N. Das, the founder principal of the college. The college can now boast of a student enrolment of nearly 3000 and a faculty strength of nearly 80 and an alumni of several thousand students well established in different fields. The present infrastructure of the college comprises spacious classrooms, a big library, well-equipped laboratories, hostel provisions for both men and women, canteen facilities, a large playground and many more support services.
Since 1969, when a student stood fifth in the Pre- University (Arts) Examination, students of this college have been producing brilliant results in various final examinations. The students of the present generation are expected to carry forward that legacy of pride and glory. With a dedicated and sincere brigade of teachers, it is our mission to provide quality education to our students. We have the vision to use the information and communication technologies in the teaching-learning process to enable the students reap the benefits of advancement of technology. The success of any mission depends on the collective efforts, cooperation and concerted action of all the stakeholders. It is my earnest appeal to all to come forward and help us in achieving our goal. Let us join hands to make our college one of the best in India and to make the dream of the founding fathers a reality.
